From Ross Rieckers

Motivational Music Monday: The hymn Schmücke dich, o liebe Seele (Soul Adorn Thyself with Gladness #636 LSB) has been included in Lutheran hymnals since 1649. Here is an arrangement attributed to J. S. Bach, performed by organist Ross Rieckers. We hope you enjoy.

Important things to remember:

1. Starting on Monday, 23, 2020, hymnals are available to be checked out at the school from 9:00 AM to 12 noon. Just sign your name and how many you take and return them when our time of COVID-19 separation is over.

2. Holy Communion is available on Tuesdays and Thursday’s by appointment. Communion services will be approx 15 min long. Please contact Pastor for scheduling.

3. Tithes and offerings can be brought to church on Sundays from 12 noon to 1:00 PM --- or you can mail them --- or call Holly at the office to set up electronic transfers. The elctronic transfer can be done one time only --- unless you want to have your information stored for future transactions.

Please remember that we still have operating expenses: utilities, payroll, buildings to maintain, etc., among all of our other expenses of operation. Your tithes and offerings have never been more important.

Keep checking this page and our Facebook page for more information.

A message from Pastor Muhlbach

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Effective March 19, 2020, St. John Lutheran Church will offer its worship service via Facebook, but not in person, until further notice. These steps are being taken to protect our most vulnerable members, to work together with our sister congregations and other area congregations, and as citizens to share with other partners in the community who are called upon to take extraordinary steps to flatten the curve of infection, and in keeping with CDC recommendations.

  • Our Lenten Midweek services will be able to be viewed on our church’s Facebook page.
  • Sunday School and all Bible Classes during the week and on Sunday are suspended until further notice. In lieu of those times, we will offer on Wednesday mornings at 10 a.m. a Bible Study/Devotion on the Church’s Facebook page.
  • At St. John’s we enjoy worshiping together as a family of believers and we look forward to that time again. However, we thank God for the technology to help provide the means of sharing God’s Word together. We are also grateful for the lessons our Lord is teaching us during this time as we, by God’s grace, fix our eyes on Jesus.
  • The leaders of St. John’s also want you to know that these decisions where not made easily nor were they based on fear or panic but are applications of the command of our Lord to love our neighbor and to cause no harm. Remember, that as the storms of life rage, it is on Christ the Solid Rock that we stand.
  • You may be wondering “What I could do?” Prayer is the heartbeat of Faith in Christ Jesus. May our hearts be beating strongly. Pray for your brothers and sisters here at St. John’s and for the household of faith at large. Keep your national and community leaders in your prayers regularly for they are faced with many challenges. Remember also all our medical personnel who are on the “front-lines” and working hard.
  • The church office remains open. Communication is important and we need to utilize the many means to keep in touch. If you have an emergency, please call any of the elders or the pastor.
  • As we walk together we do so boldly and confidently because we know our Good Shepherd leads us.

Pastor Craig Muhlbach

Dear Friends in Christ,

Due to the ongoing situation with the coronavirus, it was decided that the best course of action was to suspend in-church, in-person services. This was not an easy decision for Pastor Muhlbach and the Elders. It was not done out of fear, but rather out of love, following Martin Luther's example in his explanation to the 5th Commandment that: “We should fear and love God that we may not hurt nor harm our neighbor in his body, but help and befriend him in every bodily need.”

Pastor will explain this in more detail shortly so please keep following this page and look for updates here and on our Facebook page. There will be instructions on Holy Communion as well as how to send your offerings so that our work as a congregation can continue.

We will be posting services using Facebook Live so you can tune in Sunday morning at 9:45 AM and worship from home. We are also creating a YouTube channel and will have a recording of the service posted — hopefully by Sunday evening.

Please help those friends and relatives who are not tech savvy — so that they may also be able to worship online. Stay tuned for more details, and continue to pray faithfully for healing in our land.
