Confirmation Education

… to strengthen… expand…confirm … our faith

The Confirmation program at St. John’s Sauers Lutheran Church is a two-year program of study for 7th and 8th graders which includes:

• classroom study

• discussions

• worship

• service

• fellowship

Classroom study:  During the course of the two years, each confirmand will study:

• The Reformation period and the basic doctrines of the Lutheran Church.

• The development of the Bible, what is in it and how to read it.

• Martin Luther’s Small Catechism

Worship:  Students are expected to attend worship services regularly; filling out “sermon outlines” to help them focus on each of the part of the worship service.

Service:  Our youth are very active in many service opportunities both within the church and as part of outreach projects from St. John’s.

Fellowship:  As part of this two year transition, the kids also have many activities to build friendships and connections within the church.

At the end of the two year period and in coordination with the Pastor and the families of those involved, a Confirmation service takes place and is a special worship service for the students, their families and friends.
